Achievement complements Qatar’s five-year national development strategy to balance economic growth and environmental protection

Dubai, United Arab Emirates., January 20, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - InSinkErator, the world's largest manufacturer of food waste disposers and instant hot water dispensers for home and commercial use, has been lauded by Subway – Qatar, the leading restaurant franchise that sells submarine sandwiches and salads, for the major role it played in the restaurant’s recent achievement of being named the country’s first ‘Food Waste Free’ restaurant chain. InSinkErator installed the LC-50 Food Waste Disposer model across Subway’s 15 branches in Qatar, which gave the chain the advantage of properly treating their food waste in a more environmental and eco-friendly manner. The company’s locally based partner, Reesha environmental solutions, also expressed their appreciation towards InSinkErator’s efforts to help Subway reduce its carbon footprint in Qatar.

The LC-50 is InSinkErator’s food waste disposer model that has been designed for light foodservice applications such as convenience stores, delis and fast food operations. The model offers strategic features like ease and flexibility of use, stainless steel grind chamber and an automatic reversing motor for longer life and trouble free operation—making it the perfect disposer for Subway’s day-to-day operations.

“We would like to thank InSinkErator for the valuable effort and support that they have given us in our move to make our operations more eco-friendly,” said Abdulrahman Al Mana, Business Development Manager,  M H Al Mana group, Subway – Qatar. “The LC-50 model proved to be the most suitable model that met our requirements for a food waste disposer. The strategic features offered by the LC-50 have given us the ability to maintain a ‘Food Waste Free’ working environment—a distinction that assures our customer base at how sanitary and hygienic our food preparation and kitchens are.”

Qatar has implemented a national environmental management strategy that calls for 11 interrelated actions that cut across all areas of environmental management. Setting specific targets to be achieved by 2016, the strategy establishes a comprehensive program to preserve the quality of life for future generations. The strategy also complements the Qatar National Vision 2030 and warns that that overly aggressive economic development could result in many negative risks, including harm to the environment.

“We are humbled by the appreciation and recognition given to us by Subway – Qatar and our local partner, Reesha environmental solutions. Understanding the importance of maintaining a zero waste free status for a leading food chain like Subway allowed us to showcase and recommend the strategic features of our  LC-50 model—a light-capacity model that offers foodservice-quality through-and-through, yet installs as easily as a household garbage disposal. We congratulate Subway – Qatar on their achievement and reaffirm our commitment to work closely with like minded organizations that are joining the global initiative to help preserve the environment,” concluded Mohamed Karam, Business Development Manager ME & Africa, InSinkErator, Emerson FZE.
