Hong Kong, 25 April 2014 - - (PressReleasePoint) - More and more businesses are realising the importance of nurturing innovative entrepreneurs among their employees to help drive growth. But what are the top strategies to promote innovation within the business? According to the latest research by Regus, the flexible workspace provider, 47% of businesspeople in Hong Kong think flexible working is key.
Given the increasing importance placed on developing entrepreneurship within the business by companies such as Google and Dell , the survey asked respondents to identify which measures they regarded as key to nurturing so-called intrapreneurs. They found that almost half of Hong Kong firms selected mixing staff from different functions (46%), followed by skills updating programmes (42%) and formal innovation programmes (29%).
The findings in Hong Kong are similar to the global average. However, 37% of respondents in Mainland China and 41% in Taiwan believe that access to senior management is also a key innovation driver compared with just 28% in Hong Kong. These are the key findings of the latest research by Regus that canvassed the views of more than 19,000 senior business owners and employees in 98 countries.
Some additional highlights are:
- 82% of Hong Kong respondents think entrepreneurship has increased in the past five years in their sector;
- 10% state that female entrepreneurship is on the rise and 13% say the same about that serial-entrepreneurship.
- 36% believe that IT systems/software hold the richest potential for setting up a business nowadays.
"With small businesses accounting for over 90% of enterprises and over three-fifths of employment in most economies, it is clear why entrepreneurship should be encouraged and nurtured," said John Henderson, Chief Financial Officer, Regus Asia-Pacific.
"Businesses have come to realise the powerful innovative drive of entrepreneurs too and are looking to foster entrepreneurship among their own employees. So how can entrepreneurial behaviour be encouraged?
