Integrated Care Agreement with City BKK
Walldorf / Berlin, 12/24/2007
Patients of the two Medical Care Centers (MCC) of Mediplus Management mbH in Berlin can now benefit from a LifeSensor personal health record. This new web based record is available free of charge for integrated care patients of CITY BKK. The personal health record optimizes medical communication to the benefit of the patients.
Even in the Internet age, many physicians and other medical service providers still use paper records to document their patients' health data. Even in institutions like the Mediplus MCCs, which are already using computer systems for better and easier documentation, saved data can rarely be transferred in digital form from physician to physician or to patients. This reduces the flow of information, resulting in additional work and preventing optimum and fast treatment, especially in interdisciplinary cases.
Now Mediplus wants to solve this problem: Its patients who are receiving treatment at the new Health Center Springpfuhl or the Care Center Berlin and the connected Theodorus hospice also reveice a LifeSensor personal health record (PHR). In the PHR, the patients collect all their important personal health data. With their consent, attending physicians can also access the data in the personal health records, copy it to their medical practice management systems or enter data from their systems in the patients' records. This provides physicians with extensive health information on their patients and helps them to select the right individual therapy.
With CITY BKK, Mediplus agreed that each participant in their mutual integrated care agreement receives the personal health record free of charge. eHealth specialist InterComponentWare AG (ICW) supplies the LifeSensor personal health record and the technical infrastructure for direct data exchange between the PCs of the attending physicians and the personal health record.
