The International Diabetes Summit is back by Popular Demand

The 2nd Annual International Diabetes Summit, organized by Fleming Gulf as a result of the tremendously positive response received for the 1st Annual, will take place from 22nd till the 24th of February 2011, in Dubai UAE.

Soon after the successful and well attended 1st Annual International Diabetes Summit, which took place in October, 2010, Fleming Gulf gears up to organize the 2nd Annual, which will take place from 22nd till 24th February, 2011, in Dubai, UAE.
Diabetes is a growing epidemic currently affecting around 7% of the world’s population; thus threatening health and economic prosperity. According to the World Health Organization, at least 171 million people worldwide are registered as diabetes sufferers, while the Middle East ranks as one of the leading countries with diabetes prevalence.

Inspired by these compelling statistics, Fleming Gulf organized the 1st Annual IDS with the support of the GCC Health Ministers’ Council, which attracted over 200 delegates from several regions of the world and received great appreciation from the attendees which included Dr. Ibtihal Fadhel from the World Trade Organization, Dr. Muna AlKuwari from Ministry of Health UAE and Prof David Owens from the University Hospital Llandough, to name a few.

Fleming Gulf’s 2nd Annual IDS will house the likes of Dr. Khalid Al Rubeaan from King Saud University, Prof Peter Schwarz from the University of Dresden and Dr. Shaukat Sadikot from Diabetes India, to name a few, to touch upon subjects of great concern among the international diabetes community, thus imparting the required information and knowledge about this disease.

The topics to be discussed at this forum include Diabetes Prevention, General Concepts from Public Health to Practice, Risk Factors for Type II Diabetes, Challenges of Life Style Modification Nutrition in Type II Diabetes Prevention, Protection Strategies of β cells in Type I Diabetes, Preservation of β-cell function by targeting β-cell mass, National Diabetes Prevention Programme in Pakistan, and E-health in Diabetes management, and much more.

The 2nd Annual International Diabetes Summit will act as a platform for the Diabetes Stakeholders from all over the world to engage in a variety of discussions focusing on the latest efficient strategies and tools for better diabetes Prevention and Management.
