Media Release - 3 July 2009 - InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc) advises that Executive Director Keith Davidson will be changing roles soon and thanks him for his sterling work to-date.

Keith’s contract as Executive Director will expire at the 2009AGM. He has agreed to continue working for InternetNZ in a part time contractorsrole with a focus on technical and international representation.

Keith has been Executive Director of InternetNZ for fouryears and was President for the preceding four years. His first involvement inthe organisation in an official capacity was when he stood for theorganisation’s Council in 1998, becoming Treasurer.

InternetNZ President Peter Macaulay says Keith’scontribution has been immense. “He has brought to the organisation a wideknowledge and understanding of technical, public policy and Internet governanceissues applicable both nationally and internationally.”

“During his tenure Keith has raised the profile andprofessionalism of InternetNZ, contributing significantly to a local and globalreputation for the organisation as a leader in the Internet governancecommunity.”

“We are grateful that Keith will continue to be involvedwith the organisation and continue to address Internet governance issues at theglobal level.”

During the time that Keith Davidson has been ExecutiveDirector InternetNZ successfully advocated for the operational separation ofTelecom, anti-spam legislation and high speed Internet access, while being adriving force internationally for the openness and independence of theInternet.

“His considered views, commitment and tenacity have madeKeith a force for good in a world of political and competitive pressures,” saysMacaulay.
