APL, MOL and UASC are latest top 3 carriers leading in status event data quality
Parsippany, NJ, April 10, 2014 — INTTRA, the world’s largest multi-carrier e-commerce network for ocean shipping, announced the March results of its ocean shipping information quality program, which reveals exclusive insight into the quality of carrier data provided by the global containerized shipping industry. The program, announced earlier this year, enables carriers to easily identify where data issues exist to drive systematic improvement of shipment information quality.
The March results identified the three carriers leading the way in providing the highest quality data: 1. APL; 2. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL); and 3. United Arab Shipping Company (UASC). The rankings were derived from analysis into shipment status events matched with transport plans provided to shippers on the INTTRA network. This provides all carriers on INTTRA’s global e-commerce platform with a full view into data quality using completeness of information, and data measured from specific event milestones, regions and ports/terminals. This month’s top three carriers show the repeat appearance of APL and UASC, and the new addition of MOL.

This month also saw continued industry-wide improvement in shipment completeness across all carriers. Since the program was launched in September 2013, the number of shipments containing the six key container status event messages currently measured has improved by 12 percent. For INTTRA carriers and shippers, this improvement means that information provided for an estimated 340,655 shipments has been improved as a result . Information quality improvements remove significant operational costs for all parties seeking to use this data to make informed decisions and optimize supply chain logistics.
