Isha Majmudar's Oceans of Illusion at Agora Gallery
NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Indian artist Isha Majmudar in Idiosyncratic Expressions. The exhibition is scheduled to run from February 7, 2013 through February 27, 2013. The opening reception will be held on Thursday night, February 7, 2013 from 6-8 pm.
New York, NY, USA, February 4, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) -Finding inspiration in the changing qualities and the fluidity of movement found in bodies of water, Isha Majmudar builds her hyper realistic paintings of coastal seascapes with striking precision. In her works the artist creates the illusion of a photograph which on closer examination dissolves into a surreally abstract vision of reality where crashing oceans and still pools become in some sense unified. As the imagery of her scenes is shifted and combined in unexpected ways, Majmudar forges emotional connections and explores the essence of memories, developing an experience of water in all of its varied moods and forms as she visually explores her recent transition from India to the U.S. Majmudar brings a fine eye for detail to her delicately smooth brushstrokes in oil paints on canvas, occasionally also painting in watercolors on paper, creating imaginative composite images with a skillful softness.
Born in India where she received both her BVA and MVA from the MSU Faculty of Fine Arts, Isha Majmudar now lives and works in North Brunswick, NJ.
