Italian Grocery retailer, further strengthens relationship with JDA, by investing in store productivity solutions that will improve customer satisfaction

Scottsdale, Ariz. – March 10, 2014 – , today announced that Aspiag Service S.r.l. (Despar Northeast),the largest among the companies that form the food & grocery consortium Despar Italy, has selected JDA Space and Category Management solutions in the fourth quarter of 2013 to improvestore productivity, optimize space allocations and increase both profitability and customer satisfaction.


Aspiag Service manages 206 Despar, Eurospar and Interspar branded branches, for more than 6,500 associates, supplying almost 350 independent food & grocery retailers, who also operate under the umbrella of Despar organization. Aspiag Service runs its Despar and Eurospar markets as typical neighborhood stores. Aspiag Service operates by leveraging two assets, the deep relationship and attention to the local community, which is the most conspicuous legacy of the brand, and the close relationship with the parent company, SPAR Austria.


Challenged with providing excellent customer service in a very competitive market, Aspiag Service identified the need to improve service to its customers by matching merchandise strategies with the way consumers shop. That included decreasing stock-related costs by determining how much product to sell, how long it will take to sell it, and how much to keep in stock; optimizing space and assortment; improving category strategy decisions at store level through a better collaboration workflow and increasing efficiency by constantly monitoring shelf space availability, and assortment/product fit with the fixture.


Aspiag Service chose JDA due to its deep and proven experience in the retail industry and its category management domain expertise.
