FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Donald F. Kuratko, executive and academic director of the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, has been honored with an award from the Academy of Management.

Kuratko, who also is the Jack M. Gill Chair of Entrepreneurship and directs the Kelley School's Entrepreneurial Innovation Academy, received the 2014 Entrepreneurship Mentor Award. The award was presented earlier this month at the National Academy of Management's meeting in Philadelphia.

The award is presented to senior scholars who help develop the next generation of entrepreneurs. It is only given when an individual has demonstrated an outstanding national record of developing other young scholars in the field.

Kuratko was recognized for his work developing promising doctoral students and young assistant professors through the years in the entrepreneurial field, by nurturing their development in research and professional roles and by providing support in the early stages of their academic careers.

He is the third Kelley School professor to be honored with this award. Previous recipients are Jeffrey G. Covin, chair of the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship and the Samuel & Pauline Glaubinger Professor of Entrepreneurship; and Dean A. Shepherd, the David H. Jacobs Chair in Strategic Entrepreneurship.

No other university or business school has had more than one faculty member receive this award.

“I am truly honored to be the third recipient from the Kelley School of Business to receive this honor," Kuratko said. "I know that this award is a direct reflection of the accomplishments of so many young entrepreneurship professors as they progressed in their careers as well as the incredible work that our entire entrepreneurship team at Indiana University has accomplished over the years. With that in mind, I am extremely proud of this honor for our entrepreneurship team at the Kelley School.”
