The messages of Lean In complement Women in Media Mentoring Initiative's principles of dual mentorship and offering women the encouragement and support to advance in business.

New York, NY, United States., March 11, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - Jack Myers Women in Media Mentoring Initiative (WIMMI) is proudly Leaning In.

Lean In, sparked by Sheryl Sandberg's book “Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead,” is a non-profit organization committed to offering women the encouragement and support to achieve their goals. WIMMI has announced its partnership with Lean In and will be sharing its inspirational career lessons and encouraging members to take advantage of the free online tools on leanin.org.

Lean In Community brings women and men together to share stories and have daily conversations around topics that will help them achieve their goals. Lean In Education offers access to free online lectures, produced in collaboration with the Clayman Institute for Gender Studies at Stanford University, on topics that include creating successful teams, combating gender bias, negotiating, and advocating for ideas. Lean In Circles are small groups that meet monthly to learn together and share experiences in an atmosphere of confidentiality and trust.

“Lean In combines the best of social networking, online learning and small peer groups to create a community that can move us towards a more equal world,” said Sheryl Sandberg, a co-founder of Lean In and the chief operating officer of Facebook. “As we start using the talents of the entire population, our institutions will be more productive, our homes will be happier, and our children will no longer be held back by narrow stereotypes.”

WIMMI, through women-only live events across major cities and social networks, offers an inclusive and supportive environment for career enhancement and lifestyle management with the focus on "upward and downward" mentoring. With females representing 60% of college graduates in the next decade, women are set to alter culture, society and the strategic foundations of corporations, increasing their role, importance and influence. Dual mentoring, which is at WIMMI’s core, acknowledges that young, professional women who have grown up with the Internet and social media have as much or more to teach as to learn.

“WIMMI have joined forces with Lean In because we believe that cultivating more balanced teams and more female leaders is valuable for the health of our businesses,” said Jack Myers, founder of Women in Media Mentoring Initiative, author of “Hooked Up: A New Generation's Surprising Take on Sex, Politics and Saving the World” and chairman of Jack Myers Media Business Network. “We believe the message of Lean In complements WIMMI's principles of dual mentorship and diversity -- all members are both mentor and mentee.”

WIMMI joins Change.org, The Eva Longoria Foundation, The International Museum of Women, among others, in partnering with Lean In.
