BROOKINGS, S.D. – Oct. 14, 2010 – The sounds of baseball have come to life at Hoglund Ballpark on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan., courtesy of a new Sportsound® 1500HD digital sound system from Daktronics Inc (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D.
“The Sportsound 1500HD really impressed me and our Jayhawk baseball team,” said J.D. Loudabarger, Assistant Athletics Director - Event Services at the University of Kansas. “Going from some small speakers to a single point sound system from Daktronics stepped up the audio quality at Hoglund.
“It gives our players and fans the same audio quality we have in all our major sports facilities,” Loudabarger continued. “One great feature was the integration into our scoreboard, which did not change our existing look and feel.”
The Sportsound® 1500HD sound system features significantly enhanced sound quality with state of the art speakers providing the full range of audio, from seat shaking bass to crisp highs to natural sounding vocal reproduction. New high frequency lenses and complex waveguides are also part of the design of this unique sound system, along with high precision components, low distortion, low latency, higher damping factor and broad consistent coverage of entire sports venues.
“Daktronics is excited to bring our new Sportsound 1500HD sound system to Hoglund Ballpark and Jayhawk baseball,” said John Olsen, Daktronics audio sales. “Fans have come to expect high quality sound throughout the venue and our new system delivers just that.”
Combined with the Daktronics scoreboard and video display system installed in 2005-2006, the new sound system delivers pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies, and high impact entertainment through the integration of audio, video and scoring technologies. Daktronics is the only company that offers pre-manufactured systems like this to provide the highest quality, reliability and value.
Hoglund Ballpark has been the home of the Jayhawk baseball program for 23 seasons and continues to undergo improvements to ensure it remains one of the finest college baseball facilities in the Midwest. The park is named after former Jayhawk Forrest Hoglund, who played at Kansas from 1955-56.
