Jedox Unveils Next Evolution Of Palo: Palo BI Suite 3.0
Demand for robust and flexible Business Intelligence (BI) fuels Jedox momentum in
the UK
London, 30th, April 2009 — Jedox, an international software company that develops and markets commercial, open source-based planning, analysis and reporting solutions, today announced the availability of Palo BI Suite 3.0, a complete in-memory based corporate performance management solution that enables a ‘single version of truth’ for data-driven enterprises, business divisions and the open source community. Available as a community or enterprise version, Palo BI Suite 3.0 is now also available on Amazon EC2, making it the first BI solution to fully operate on a cloud.
According to Gartner Group, by 2012, more than 35 per cent of the top 5,000 global companies will “regularly fail to make insightful decisions about significant changes in their business and markets,” because of lack of information, processes, and tools. These findings coincide with greater demand for solutions delivered via software-as-a-service (SaaS) models that offer flexibility and cost-effectiveness to customers.
Palo BI Suite 3.0, backed by Jedox’s own 25-strong development team, as well as a customer base of around 10,000 Palo enthusiasts, is the first commercial-strength, open source BI solution that combines the familiarity and productivity of a web-based online spreadsheet with the centralized server capacity typical of BI applications, together with multi-dimensionality (in-memory MOLAP).
“Since Jedox was founded in 2002, we have seen significant growth in demand for powerful business intelligence solutions; now more than ever, information for planning, reporting and measuring performance is a requirement for any responsible business,” said Kristian Raue, founder and CEO of Jedox. “The enhancements delivered in Palo BI Suite 3.0 combine a robust BI core with the flexibility that our corporate customers and community want to apply BI to a number of end users scenarios that monolithic BI software packages could not rapidly adapt to support.”
Palo BI Suite 3.0 combines all three of Jedox’s core applications — OLAP Server 3.0, Worksheet Server 3.0 and ETL Server 3.0 — into one comprehensive and customisable BI platform versatile enough for the needs of any modern enterprise. Palo BI Suite 3.0 is available as a community and enterprise version, with the enterprise version offering extended software assurance and support functionalities.
• Palo OLAP Server 3.0 offers increased stability and performance, as well as new logical algorithms. It is a multi-user, high-performance data server application that allows workers throughout an enterprise to access, change and collaborate on BI data instantaneously. Furthermore, it offers a real-time aggregation through the multi-dimensional data model
• Palo Worksheet Server 3.0 is an Ajax- and Web-based online spreadsheet that combines the look-and-feel of a spreadsheet with state-of-the-art requirements for modeling, reporting, planning and analysis. Palo Worksheet Server has the ability to automatically adjust the structure of the spreadsheet according to the OLAP query results. It enables an integrated, end-user-oriented modeling of reports, dashboards, cockpit and planning applications in the web browser.
• Palo ETL Server is a Web-based data acquisition tool that extracts, transforms and loads data from transactional systems, data warehouses and other external sources. The application accepts data from relational database management systems, SAP, Web services and much more.
Mark Kobrin, Sales Manager of Shared Knowledge Solutions, said, “Most businesses and IT leaders remain largely unaware of the capabilities and business benefits of open source-based planning, analysis and reporting solutions. In Jedox and Palo BI Suite 3.0. we have found a partner that allows our customers to collect information in a single system where it is easy to access and manage, therefore eliminating spreadsheet chaos and the dependency on IT for data.”
From mid May until mid June 2009, Jedox will host a half-day road show across European hubs that will feature speakers from industry, government and the open source community. Among the topics to be discussed include the implications of corporate performance management data being made more transparent and readily available across the enterprise.
