Jennifer E. Mercer Joins Epiq Systems as Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications to Lead Specialized Communications Serv

Kansas City, KS (March 8, 2013) – Epiq Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EPIQ), a leading provider of managed technology for the global legal profession, today announced that Jennifer E. Mercer has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications to lead the Company’s new strategic communications group.

“Ms. Mercer has provided strategic communications counsel for some of the largest and most high-profile restructurings and is a highly respected leader in the restructuring and insolvency industry,” said Lorenzo Mendizabal, Managing Director of Epiq Bankruptcy Solutions. “She brings more than 15 years of experience providing communications guidance to businesses in a range of industries and various sizes from Fortune 500 to small-cap concerns.  We are excited about having the ability to package affordable programs for all cases, including the numerous small and mid-size cases that could benefit from comprehensive strategic communications.”

The strategic communications group will provide a full range of communications services including:

• Transactional communications such as in- and out-of-court restructurings
• Mergers and acquisitions
• Litigation support
• Labor disputes and other crisis situations

Ms. Mercer has led strategy development for hundreds of corporate restructurings. Representative cases include Enron, Digital Domain Media Group, Hawaiian Telcom, International Aluminum Corporation, Mesa Air, Panavision, Samsonite Company Stores, Solyndra, TOUSA, and Turtle Wax.

Prior to joining Epiq Ms. Mercer was the founder and principal of strategic communications firm, Van Meter Consultants. Ms. Mercer sits on the board of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), where she serves as the Chair of the Communications Committee. She is an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) where she also sits on the Marketing and Communications Council.
