Jennifer Pemberton of SSOE Becomes a LEED Accredited Professional
NASHVILLE, TN February 14, 2008- SSOE, Inc., one of the nation's largest architecture and engineering firms, announced thatJennifer Pemberton, Intern Architect, recently earned LEED(TM) (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. A LEED AP is an individual who has taken and passed the LEED exam and possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the design process supporting sustainability and to propel the building design through the certification process. The LEED green building rating system promotes the practices of sustainable design, addressing all building types, and focusing on sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resource selection and indoor environmental quality.
"As a LEED Accredited Professional, Jennifer will be focused on integrating green building practices into the design process. The LEED rating system incorporates a wealth of considerations that we, as designers, can employ to improve environmental quality. The long term benefits of sustainable buildings are both qualitative and quantifiable to anyone that occupies or maintains those buildings. And whether our client's goal is to become LEED certified, or if they are just building with sustainability in mind, there is much room for cost-effective environmental responsibility." said David Rose, Vice President and Chair of SSOE's Sustainable Design Committee.
Jennifer joined SSOE in 2005 shortly after graduating from The University of Tennessee with a Bachelors of Architecture. She is also a Construction Documents Technologist, accredited by the CSI and is currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program which she will complete this summer and begin preparing to take the exams to become a licensed architect.
