This year’s D&C Days will aim to influence the ‘ambition mechanism’ processes under the UNFCCC – particularly the Talanoa Dialogue and global stocktake – and to inform climate action on all levels, looking ahead to 2020.

D&C Days 2018 will take place on 8-9 December 2018 in Katowice, Poland, during the middle weekend of this year's UN climate change talks.

At D&C Days we share learning experiences by engaging, being productive and having fun. The dynamic format encourages dialogue on a range of issues that link policy, knowledge and practice. Innovative approaches encourage participants to interact, challenge existing thinking and to generate new ideas.

The 16th annual D&C Days will continue to build on the topic of 'Global ambition. Local action. Climate resilience for all', and will focus on four themes:

  • Transparency and downward accountability
  • Resilience through empowerment
  • Financing adaptation, risk reduction and risk management, and
  • Valuing lived experience and local knowledge.

Within these themes, D&C Days will be tackling big questions, seeking effective and practical answers, and working together on fair solutions.

2018 will be the 16th D&C Days event

Background to D&C Days

D&C Days started in 2002, and has since become a popular part of COP, providing an opportunity for researchers, practitioners and negotiators to meet informally for honest and open discussions on news, ideas and solutions on climate change and development.

Last year's conference in Bonn showed the impact and expertise of climate change practitioners working on the ground
