Growing demand at KSSP bulk and container terminals triggered the expansion

Kerry Logistics has broken ground on the expansion of Kerry Siam Seaport (KSSP), one of the leading multipurpose ports in Asia. Construction started on the third phase of its facility at Laem Chabang in Thailand. Completion is due in Q4, 2012.

Growing demand at KSSP bulk and container terminals triggered the expansion with installation of two new container rotation systems and 31 system boxes for bulk loading.

KSSP will also add two 150 metre long berths which are also expected to be completed by September 2012. Once completed KSSP will have ten operational berths with a total length of 1,500 metres.

KSSP has been operating since 1995, starting with four conventional berths with a combined length of 720 metres. In 2011, throughput reached 6.0 million tonnes of bulk cargo and 160,000 TEUs. The total annual throughput at KSSP is targeted to exceed 7.0 million tonnes in 2012.
