Knight Investments LLC Promote US General Services Administration's Federal Contracting Program

In a recent program implementation the US GSA launched a new program to help small businesses win federal contracts and Compliance Officials of KI discussed how this would benefit compliance options.

Compliance Officials of Knight Investments LLC were briefed as the Obama Administration and the U.S. General Services Administration unveiled "Business Breakthrough".

Business Breakthrough is a new GSA program to arm businesses with information that will help them compete for the nearly $50 billion of federal purchases that flow through GSA each year.

Officials from Knight Investments LLC discussed how these new programs might be worked into compliance programs offered by Knight Investments LLC.

“Our ability to out-compete the rest of the world relies on the success of large and small businesses here at home. It’s these businesses that will secure America’s future prosperity,” said Jiyoung Park, Associate Administrator at the U.S. General Services Administration's Office of Small Business Utilization. “GSA’s Business Breakthrough program is a vital next step in our efforts to maintain an open dialogue with the business community and provide innovative companies with the tools to grow and create new jobs.”

Regulatory officials stated that while participation in Business Breakthrough will be available to a range of companies, GSA envisions the program to be particularly useful to companies that are too large to qualify for small business procurement advantages, but not large enough to successfully compete with the nation’s largest corporations.

Compliance Officials of KI stated that this was of the utmost importance because quite often there existed successful companies that could perform the tasks required by the US Government; however they were being undercut by the larger corporations.

"Small business employs over 70% of our work force. Too often we confuse small business with 'Mom and Pops Joints", but to the contrary if you do not make at least Mirco Cap Status, a status that means at least 50 Million in capitalization, you are considered small business. There are a lot of companies in America that make less than 50 million USD per annum." said a Senior Spokesman from Knight Investments LLC.

Researchers reported that the Business Breakthrough program will offer workshops for companies with varying levels of experience with federal contracting. It is hoped that these workshops will give participating companies access to information on how to succeed in federal contracting through GSA’s contracting vehicles.

Business Breakthrough will also feature GSA’s Mentor-Protégé program,which assists protégé businesses while providing contracting advantages to both the mentor and protégé companies.

“GSA is positioned at the crossroads of business and government. Our work touches 14 percent of all federal contracts, about $50 billion worth of business each year. Business Breakthrough will help companies maximize their competitiveness to tap into this market,” Park said.

GSA will pilot Business Breakthrough in two cities in May and launch the program nationally later in 2011.
