KTHM65/mITX offers pure computing power with the exact features for increased cost-savings

Eching, Germany, December 22, 2011 – Kontron announced today the launch of the new price-performance optimized Kontron Embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTHM65/mITX. Based on the Intel® HM65 chipset it combines scalable performance from Intel® Celeron® B810 up to 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3/i5/i7 dual core or quad core processors with the most common features for maximum cost savings. Even with its reduced interface range, the new board offers high graphics performance, multi-display support and long-term availability tailored to the needs of many application areas in digital signage, gaming, POS/POI and markets such as medical imaging, industrial automation or test & measurement. Compared to the Kontron Embedded motherboards with Intel® QM67 or Q67 chipset and support for high-end technologies such as Intel® AMT and RAID, the Kontron Embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTHM65/mITX features are reduced to the most common ones to archive an optimized price-performance ratio.

Individual adjustments of interfaces can be achieved via the PCIe and mini PCIe extension slots as well as with the configurable feature connector. Enabled by the implemented embedded controller, the feature connector supports up to 160 GPIO including analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and digital-to-analog converters (DAC). Due to these options, the adaptation of the board towards individual I/O-requirements is extremely simple and efficient.

The features in detail:
The new Kontron Embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTHM65/mITX combines maximum cost-savings together with an extremely scalable performance range from the price-optimized dual-core Intel® Celeron® B810 up to the quad-core 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3/i5/i7 processors with up to 3.5 GHz (in Turbo Mode) for highest performance. A maximum of 32 GB DDR3 RAM is supported to enable memory intensive applications in the smallest footprint. For the design of the peripheral interfaces the Kontron Embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTHM65/mITX integrates the Intel® HM65 Controller Hub. Interfaces for video include 2x DisplayPort, LVDS/eDP and 1x DVI to connect Displays directly to the motherboard without additional interface cards. With one Gen 2.0 PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 plus a Mini PCIe slot, the Kontron KTHM65/mITX provides ample slots to plug in application specific expansion cards. External devices find connection via 12x USB 2.0 and 1x GbE-LAN to enable fast networking. Numerous storage media can be connected via the 6x SATA interfaces (2x SATA III) and the mSATA (mini-SATA) socket for high-speed on-board SSD. HD audio tops off the feature set of the new Mini-ITX embedded motherboard.

The Kontron Embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTHM65/mITX is available now and is supplied with comprehensive Board Support Packages for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Embedded Standard 7, VxWorks, as well as Linux (Red Hat Enterprise, Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise, Red Flag Linux and Wind River Linux, among others).
