KYOCERA Expands Sales Network for Residential-Use Solar Power Generating Systems
September 2, 2009
KYOCERA Solar Corp.
KYOCERA Communication Systems Co., Ltd.
In response to increasing domestic demand for residential-use solar power generating systems and to further sales of these systems, the Kyocera Group has decided to expand its sales network and strengthen its sales organization through collaboration between group companies.
Starting September 4, 2009, Kyocera Solar Corporation (President: Yukihiro Takarabe; hereafter “KSC”), which sells solar power generating systems supplied by Kyocera Corporation (President: Tetsuo Kuba; hereafter “Kyocera”) in the domestic Japanese market; and Kyocera Communication Systems Co., Ltd. (President: Motoo Kobayashi; hereafter “KCCS”), which is engaged in telecommunications engineering and other services, will collaborate to sell Kyocera’s residential-use solar power generating systems in the Japanese market through around 100 partner companies of KCCS.
To date, Kyocera’s solar power generating systems have been sold through the Kyocera Solar FC sales network* — a franchise system unique in the industry that was developed solely by KSC — as well as house builders. In the near future, the sales organization will be strengthened by establishing stores at AEON shopping centers and through collaboration between Kyocera Group companies.

Overview of Sales Network Expansion
In view of increasing domestic demand for residential-use solar power generating systems — which has resulted in part to the implementation of subsidies provided by the Japanese government — KSC has established a new sales channel utilizing the business bases of KCCS, another Kyocera Group company, to add to the existing sales network.
KCCS is a Kyocera Group company engaged in information and telecommunications services. Since its foundation in 1995, in addition to its information communication technology service and management consulting services, the company has developed its telecommunications engineering business with nationwide partner companies to construct mobile phone base stations — which requires even higher technological standards and construction quality. As a new business opportunity utilizing existing expertise, it has been decided that KCCS will launch sales of Kyocera’s residential-use solar power generating systems through approximately 100 partner companies that serve as secondary sales agents.

Background of Kyoceras Solar Energy Business
Kyocera has been manufacturing quality solar cells for over 30 years since it began research & development into solar energy in 1975. In response to increasing global demand for solar energy, Kyocera is consolidating its manufacturing systems at solar cell production and solar module assembly plants at four regional locations worldwide. The company plans to manufacture solar cells equivalent to 400 MW this fiscal year, 550 MW in fiscal 2011 and 650 MW in fiscal 2012.
KSC and Solar Power Generation
Since its foundation in 1996, KSC, which sells Kyocera’s public-, industrial- and residential-use solar power generation systems, has developed a comprehensive system for sales, installation and after-service rooted in the regional community, with the aim of achieving customer satisfaction. The company plans to expand the nationwide Kyocera solar franchise network from the current 67 stores to 100 by the end of March 2010, while at the same time implementing new industry-leading initiatives, including opening tenant stores at AEON shopping centers.
Background of KCCS Solar Energy Business
KCCS has been installing public- and industrial-use solar power generation systems since 1997 and hopes to use its expertise in this area for new business development. Its tightly-knit network, with partner companies acquired through business development to date, has been a significant driving force for launching sales of residential-use solar power generation systems. In addition, the data center and telecommunications services developed by KCCS will be used in various new initiatives such as power generation status monitoring services for customers who have adopted Kyocera solar power generation systems, and also to offer related systems that support the usage of green electricity by public facilities.
