KYOCERA Launches Simple Waterproof K006 Mobile Phone

Kyocera Corporation (President: Tetsuo Kuba) today announced the launch of the K006 a new easy-to-use, simple waterproof* mobile phone with a stylish design and basic features for the au network. The K006 is part of KDDI Corporation's new handset lineup announced on July 22.

The K006 has been developed for people that mostly use their mobile phones for making phone calls and texting, but who also want a stylish design, basic features and easy operability.

The phone comes equipped with a highly-visible, approximately 3-inch QVGA LCD main display screen, and has waterproof features that allow for worry-free use of the phone in the kitchen or other places where it may accidentally get wet.

The K006 has a “Simple Mode” which allows for easy operation of the most-used features, highly-visible “Deka Moji” (large font sizes), and even further control with “One-Touch Font Size Changeability” which allows the user to easily adjust the font size. Moreover, the touch keys are spread apart to limit mistaken operations, and adjustable operational complexity makes the handset ideal for a wide age range of users.

The phone has a built-in 3.31 megapixel auto-focus camera, and a “Long-Lasting Mode” which minimizes all the features’ battery power consumption so that the phone can be used for a longer time between charging.

The handset features a surface panel with a hard coat that resists scratching while realizing a smooth and transparent feel, a simple design, and easy-to-grip form that comes in 3 color variations.
