Certification of Three Data Centers: Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba

Sep 3, 2014

São Paulo, Brazil, Sept. 3, 2014 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) today announced it has been awarded the international ISO 9001 Certification for Quality Management for its data centers in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba, Brazil. The data centers are equipped to provide enterprise customers with the capabilities to manage rapid data growth, provide business continuity and streamline costs — key elements for delivering mission-critical business applications in a secure and efficient operating environment.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification is an international standard that sets out the criteria for a quality management system. This standard reviews a number of quality indicators, including a customer orientation, executive management support, focus on process management and management systems and commitment to continual improvement.

“The ISO 9001 certification is a testament to the quality of the processes and products offered through our data centers,” said Leonardo Barbero, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Level 3 in Latin America. “With this third-party seal of approval, customers have the assurance Level 3 is focused on providing quality products and continually improving its services.”

Following an internal and external audit process that comprised an evaluation of Level 3’s data center operations, infrastructure and related processes at its facilities in Brazil, certification was granted to three Level 3 data centers. The new certification is valid for a three-year period. The audits were conducted by TÜV Rheinland, a provider of technical, safety and certification services, and the Argentine Accreditation Body (OAA).

This certification is part of an ongoing improvement and measurement process that enables Level 3 to optimize its quality standards and continue offering high-quality service to its customers. Currently, four of the company’s data centers in Argentina also are ISO 9001 certified.
