Liaison’s EMR-Link™ lab/EHR solution launches new functionality to ease compliance with Meaningful Use Stage 2, LOINC coding, patient reporting, and ACO requirements

ATLANTA — April 25, 2014 — Liaison Healthcare, a global provider of secure cloud-based integration and data management services and solutions, announced today that EMR-Link™, its cloud-based lab/EHR (electronic health record) interoperability solution, has released over the past year new functionality designed to ease compliance with Federal healthcare IT requirements.

The new functionality, bundled under the name Compliance Plus, makes it easier for labs and clinics to comply with Federal requirements around Meaningful Use Stage 2, LOINC coding, and patient lab results reporting. In addition, the new functionality eases the required transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 diagnosis codes, which was recently delayed by Congress from this year to 2015 to give providers and payers more time to prepare.

As a lab outreach solution, EMR-Link gives labs the functionality to meet and exceed the  EHR Meaningful Use requirements of the practices they serve. In addition, it supports patient engagement by giving providers the ability to securely share patient-friendly multilingual lab results that can easily be customized, annotated, and integrated into patient portals adopted by the practices.

Other recent enhancements to EMR-Link improve lab outreach and clinical workflows, such as mobile results, results bundling, order splitting, and the ability to monitor the flow of data between the lab and clinic, with notification if the connection goes down.

“We’re delivering this functionality to help our customers respond effectively to the current ‘perfect storm’ of regulatory requirements,” said Ken Willett, Liaison’s VP of Healthcare IT Strategy. “Even with the ICD-10 delay, this year is a challenging one for labs and clinics, many of whom are struggling to understand and comply with these converging requirements. Our goal is not only to provide functionality to ease this process, but also to be a resource for straight talk and actionable information.”

“Liaison has simplified everything about the integration to the practices we serve, and they’ve grown our capacity to dozens of different EMRs ” said Terry Gunning, former COO of MedLabs Diagnostics. “Their expertise in EMR workflow gives MLD a great competitive advantage as viewed through the eyes of the physicians using those EMRs.”
