Master data management service offers organizations up-to-date, real-time access to healthcare provider and practitioner lists

ATLANTA — February 28 —

Liaison Healthcare, a global provider of secure cloud-based integration and data management services and solutions, announced today the launch of its cloud-based Master Person Index (MPI) solution for the pharmaceutical market. With the solution in place, pharmaceutical companies will be able to correctly match healthcare provider, practitioner and consumer identifiers. By having access to clean and complete customer data, these companies will be able to strengthen client relationships and meet compliance with federal regulations around transactions.

The MPI solution uniquely identifies customer identifiers, thus decreasing the number of duplicates and overlays found within a single organization. Its algorithms streamline the matching process for provider, practitioner and consumer identifiers, and with its cloud-based foundation, the solution provides enhanced scalability and flexibility for maintaining customer data.

Along with reducing duplicates and overlays for clean customer information, the solution allows pharmaceutical companies to:

  • Centralize provider, practitioner and pharmaceutical consumer information in the cloud in order to achieve real-time, up-to-date access to the data;
  • Verify consumer and provider demographic information through a general address validation process;
  • Incorporate a sampling of customer data to correctly identify providers and practitioners; and
  • Leverage a mirror of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) National Provider Identifier (NPI) registry to validate provider and practitioner credentials.

The MPI solution will also help pharmaceutical companies comply with the Physician Payments Sunshine Act.  Under this regulation, pharmaceutical companies are required to publicly track all transactions made to providers, and in order to do so, they must establish master customer lists that are accurate. The MPI solution helps facilitate the transition to this new method of recording by ensuring that provider and practitioner data is matched correctly.

“There is currently limited structure in place for pharmaceutical companies to be able to accommodate large volumes of customer data in a manner that allows for clean and accurate matching,” said Gary Palgon, vice president, healthcare solutions, Liaison Healthcare. “Through real-time, centralized access to the data via the cloud-based MPI solution, companies can develop closer ties with their customers as they pursue long-term, successful business relationships.”
