Lilien earns lifetime achievement award from American Marketing Association
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Gary L. Lilien, distinguished research professor of management science at the Penn State Smeal College of Business, has earned the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Marketing Association (AMA) Interorganizational Special Interest Group (IOSIG) for his more than 40 years of high-level scholarship in business-to-business marketing.
A Smeal faculty member since 1981, Lilien is also the cofounder and research director of the college’s Institute for the Study of Business Markets, a global network of researchers and practitioners focused on advancing the practice of business-to-business marketing.
In addition, he has authored or co-authored 15 books and more than 100 professional articles, primarily in the areas of industrial marketing, new product development, marketing models and bargaining theory.
Lilien serves as functional editor for marketing for the journal Interfaces and as associate editor for Marketing Science. In addition, he serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Research in Marketing and the Journal of Marketing. He also serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing and the Journal of Business to Business Marketing.
In 2008, Lilien received the AMA/Irwin/McGraw Hill Educator of the Year award, and in 2012 he won the Gilbert Churchill Award from the AMA for career contributions to the field of marketing research. In 2010, the ISMS-MSI Practice Prize for the best applied work in marketing science globally was renamed the Gary Lilien ISMS-MSI Practice Prize in his honor.
The AMA IOSIG facilitates interaction among academic members of the AMA with an interest in channels of distribution, business-to-business marketing, supply chain management, logistics and business alliances.
Lilien holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from Columbia University. He has also received honorary doctorates from the University of Liege, the University of Ghent and Aston University.
