Local Teen Sets to Write Creative Book on Unique Halloween Costume Ideas

Teenagers often like to think big. A local Seattle teen isn't just thinking big; she's acting upon her big dreams. Susan Brandon has always had the dream of becoming a published author and this summer her dream may come true.

Teenagers often like to think big. A local Seattle teen isn't just thinking big; she's acting upon her big dreams. Susan Brandon has always had the dream of becoming a published author and this summer her dream may come true.
 
"I noticed that a lot of the teens at my high school came up with some of the most creative and wonderful Halloween costumes", said Susan Brandon during an interview. "I thought that it would be a really cool idea to travel the country and make a collection of some of the most unique, weird and wonderful Halloween costumes."
 
Susan Brandon and her mother created a blog dedicated to these unique Halloween costume ideas. They encouraged teens to share with them what costumes they used for recent Halloween or costumed events. 
 
"We received thousands of submissions from teens all over the country", said Brandon. "We even had some from other countries. I honestly didn't think the blog would be that popular, but it was."
 
Susan Brandon and her mother are making plans to travel to different parts of the country and see these costumes for themselves. While visiting the different costumes, they will take photos, create a how-to guide, and start piecing together the foundation for their new book.
 
"One of the unique things that we are planning on offering is an interactive video that goes along with the book", said Brandon. "People will be able to see others in the costumes doing cool things, and some of the videos will have instructions on how to make the costume."
 
Interactive videos that coincide with books are nothing new to the publishing industry. Many young adult and children's books have started to release videos alongside their books. It is believed that these videos generate a buzz for the books and get people excited about the upcoming book.
 
The reason Susan Brandon is publishing the book is rather unique.
 
"After seeing so many awesome costumes and other things during my time at high school, I really got a desire to share it with others", said Susan Brandon. "I thought a cool little book like this would inspire other teens to create awesome Halloween costume ideas and share them with the world."
 
The book will be published sometime at the end of the year. It will mark the first published work for Susan Brandon. A release party is scheduled and Susan Brandon plans on showing off some of the amazing Halloween costume ideas in person at the release party.
