As part of an ongoing trial project to expand the distribution of L-Root globally into under-served regions, L-Root went live in Dakar today. The goal is to improve security and stability of the DNS for all users of the Internet. This node is being hosted by NIC Senegal, and is attached to the Sonatel backbone in Dakar.

ICANN staff worked with NIC Senegal, l'Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD), Sonatel and the Network Resource Startup Center to bring the node live.

A map of node locations and more information can be found at:http://www.root-servers.org/
