When Brian and Molly Harrison visited Whithorn on their honeymoon two years ago the couple were so taken with the area, they decided to move north and launch a new business.

Opened on 1st December 2013, with support from Business Gateway, Whithorn House offers luxurious boutique accommodation, a fabulous Victorian tea room and a thriving art gallery, all within a majestic, and recently renovated, 19th Century country house setting.

Our fantastic location overlooking the Solway Firth along with a host of personal touches and top quality customer care, are just some of the elements that have attracted customers from as far afield as France, Belgium and Canada,” said Brian.

“The Red Door Gallery is also proving really popular with visitors enjoying exhibitions by a host of local artists, sculptors and authors.

“We have big plans for Whithorn House and our Business Gateway adviser is helping us take things forward. He is looking into potential funding sources and will also be advising us on staff training, HR and employment matters over the coming months.”

Business Gateway Adviser, Tony Couch, added: “Brian and Molly have made a great start and they know that we will be there to help them not only deal with the challenges, but maximise the opportunities that will undoubtedly come their way as they develop Whithorn House in the future.”
