mamemo productions creates outstanding event concept for Masdar Institute’s historic inaugural commencement

mamemo produced stage concept, corporate films, and event plan for region's first graduate-level, research-driven scientific institution.

mamemo productions celebrates the successful collaboration with Masdar Institute to produce an outstanding commencement of its first batch of graduates at the Emirates Palace Auditorium, Abu Dhabi on the 5th of June, 2012.

The commencement was under the patronage of General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and attended by HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor & Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council; HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court; HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and HE Mohammed Al Bowardi, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Executive Council with other Sheikhs and senior officials.

The design of Managing & Creative Director Sam Katiela and his team for the event stage was based on a giant scroll that unfolded onstage and flanked by huge banners featuring icons of the Institute: its students, facilities and buildings. All onscreen content was seamlessly blended into this specially constructed set, programmed in leading edge, real time 3D animation.

For this event, mamemo created two corporate films:
• A Masdar Institute Image Film, shot on multiple locations, which focused on the founding principles of the Institute, its people, and its facilities.
• Masdar Institute Life Documentary, shot entirely in the MI campus, that reveals the vibrant life of the Institute through the eyes of its faculty, administration, and students

The event reached its dramatic grand finale when the screen lifted, revealing the new graduates on a hidden riser at the back of the stage, bringing the whole audience to a highly emotional standing ovation.
