With Many Hands Coming Forward, Denim Give Away Drive Gains Momentum
Denim Club India has initiated a Denim Give Away Drive as a part of its HIV & AIDS Awareness campaign. In this drive, currently old / un-used Denims are being collected from one and all, and will subsequently be donated to People Living with HIV.
New Delhi, 30th November 2009 – Denim Club India has initiated a Denim Give Away Drive as a part of its HIV & AIDS Awareness campaign. In this drive, currently old / un-used Denims are being collected from one and all, and will subsequently be donated to People Living with HIV, through a few selected NGOs which are involved in providing support and care to People Living with, or affected by, HIV and AIDS.
The Denim Give Away Drive started off on 15th November 2009 on a positive note with people turning up at The Brand Express showroom in New Delhi to donate old pairs of denim for people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
After a successful launch, the drive has been growing fast and gaining momentum, with more and more people having associated with the drive by way of setting up "drop-off" points.
The residents of Maple Heights, Gurgaon, Kashmir Apartments, New Delhi, set up "drop-off" points and denim collection has already started. More drop-off points have been set up at Mithila Apartments, I. P. Extension, Samachar Apartments, Mayur Vihar, Malaygiri Apartments, Kaushambhi, Gujarat Apartments, Pitam Pura and Sharda Apartments, Pitam Pura.
Several educational institutes have associated with the give away drive to collect denim from the students and their families including Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, Bal Bharati Public School, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, Ramjas Collge, Delhi University, and SNDT University, Juhu, Mumbai. Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar is setting up several "drop-off" points in its large campus in Jalandhar.
Pardasani & Associates, an IT solutions firm, has also set up a drop-off point at its store in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi and TARSHI, an NGO in New Delhi working in the area of reproductive and sexual
health issues, has set up a drop-off point at its admin office.
N. S. K. Textiles Limited, a leading buying house in Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon, has set up a drop-off point in its office and GenPact has also set up drop-off points at the various offices in Gurgaon where employees can donate the denims.
Drop off points have also been set up at showrooms of Ahuja Clothiers, NIT I, Faridabad, Peter England, Crown Plaza, Sector-15A, Faridabad and Jo Jo Intershoppe, Sector 15 Market, Faridabad.
Appealing to everyone to whole heartedly support this initiative, Mr. R. Dudeja, Founder, Denim Club India said, “We are grateful to all individuals, organisations and institutions who have extended their support and helping hand by participating in the drive. Due to the response we have received the Give Away Drive we shall not end the drive on 1st December. I urge everyone to come forward and set up a drop off point in your neighbourhood, institution or organisation for the Denim Give Away Drive to make the drive more successful.”
India Denim Day is organized every year on 1 December to coincide with the World AIDS Day - with the objective of contributing the proverbial drop in the ocean, for HIV and AIDS awareness.
