Opening party. The double victory in the slalom thriller in Val d’isere leaves many entries for the logbook of Atomic’s successes: Marcel Hirscher won his first World Cup Slalom – and for the first time in ski history, an athlete ranked first being equipped exclusively with Atomic’s skis, binding, ski boots, helmet, ski goggles.

Benni Raich is equipped with Atomic from head to toe just like Marcel Hirscher. Benni Raich’s second place ensured the first slalom double victory in three years.

Val d´Isere – the place for Marcel Hirscher’s masterpieces on snow: last year, the ATOMIC youngster, only in his second year in the World Cup, put his name on the list of giant slalom winners. Now his name can also be found on the slalom Wall of Fame. This is due to a top performance – high end skiing combined with tactical cleverness: “I went for more risk in the second run – and still felt safe and secure with every swing.” Such situations occur if material setup is 100 % homogeneous. “There are two things about Marcel that are striking: his consistency and his trust into the potential of the material that makes him use it to its fullest – even under difficult conditions”, analyzes ATOMIC Race Director Rudi Huber. Benni Raich also confirmed that the complete ATOMIC package of skies, binding, boots, helmet and goggles gave him “an extremely good feeling” by claiming: “In both competitions (Raich ranked fifth in giant slalom, second in slalom), sight was definitely a criteria at various parts of the races. The quality of ATOMIC’S goggles technology definitely paid off.”

Marlies magic D2-performance

Talking of quality. Obtaining best time in the second run, Marlies Schild proved it in St. Moritz: she is top again in giant slalom as well. “That was an important achievement.“ The upcoming destinations for the ATOMIC team are the ladies’ two super-Gs, a downhill and a super combined in Val d’Isere. Also ahead of us – an Italian triple with a downhill, a super-G and a giant slalom (Gröden / Alta Badia). And then: Christmas break!
