Purchase, N.Y. – May 3, 2018 – Mastercard announced today it has appointed Kristina Kloberdanz as the company’s first Chief Sustainability Officer.

In this newly-created role, Kloberdanz is responsible for leading Mastercard’s approach to sustainability as defined by three key pillars: being good stewards of the environment, making positive social impact, and ensuring high standards of corporate governance. She will drive efforts to integrate and embed sustainability initiatives across business units and throughout the company as an accelerator of strategic growth.

“We are deepening our sustainability strategy to ensure we’re doing our part as good corporate citizens – this in line with our purpose-driven vision of a ‘World Beyond Cash’ and goal to be a force for good in the world,” said Shamina Singh, president, Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. “With Kristina’s 20+ years of experience managing corporate social responsibility and sustainability, I have no doubt that she will continue to advance Mastercard’s efforts with best in class programs that build our reputation as a corporate sustainability leader.”

Kloberdanz joined Mastercard in May 2017 as Vice President of Corporate Sustainability, leading the development of the company’s sustainability report. Prior to that, she worked for IBM leading their global corporate responsibility/sustainability strategy, integration and brand reputation.

Kloberdanz holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
