McKesson Earns 100 percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Twelfth Annual Scorecard on LGBT Workplace Equality

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., December 9, 2013 – McKesson Corporation proudly announced that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

“At McKesson, we are guided by our ICARE shared values that promote integrity and respect for all colleagues across the enterprise, and we couldn’t be more honored to be recognized as one of the best places to work for LGBT equality. We strongly believe that diversity, inclusion and equality are critical to not only creating a healthy and engaged workplace, but to driving continuous innovation through the exchange of different perspectives and approaches,” said John Hammergren, chairman and chief executive officer, McKesson Corporation.

McKesson is committed to establishing and evolving policies and practices that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees and their families. Over the past several years, OPEN, McKesson’s LGBT and Straight Ally Employee Resource Group, has led a number of efforts to create an environment in which all employees can feel fully included, heard and respected in bringing their whole selves to work.

“McKesson employees come from all backgrounds, bringing the perspectives, insights and creativity that make our company such a great place to work. McKesson is committed to fostering a culture where all employees can come to work, contribute to their fullest potential, and do so in a way that is true to who they are,” said Daina Chiu, senior vice president, talent management and diversity, McKesson Corporation.

The 2014 CEI rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. McKesson’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria resulting in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
