A free Christmas tree giveaway is scheduled for 9 a.m. here Friday at the Paige Fieldhouse parking lot.

The Trees for Troops program, sponsored by the Christmas Spirit Foundation, will be making a stop at Camp Pendleton for the ninth year to deliver approximately 800 trees to troops and military families.

The event will also feature Santa, Santa's Craft and Hobby Workshop, face painting, holiday music, bounce houses, rock climbing, a children’s obstacle course, a paintball experience and the opporty to meet characters from Sea World.

Each year, the program delivers an average of 17,000 trees to more than 60 military bases around the country.

Media interested in covering this event must RSVP with Camp Pendleton Media Relations Office by emailing cpao.mcbcampenmedia@usmc.mil no later than 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Members of the media who have RSVP'd will be met at Camp Pendleton's SAN LUIS REY GATE at no later than 8:30 a.m. Friday to be escorted to the event.
