MEDIA ADVISORY: Symposium to Explore Black Marriage

WHAT: The symposium will explore contemporary black marriage across legal, political, cultural, social, economic, and historical contexts. It brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars, practitioners, and policymakers who will address the current state of black intimate relationships in all of forms and orientations.

The sponsors are the Johns Hopkins University Center for Africana Studies and Iowa State University’s College of Human Sciences.

Organizers are Johns Hopkins sociologist Katrina Bell McDonald; Tera Jordan, Iowa State assistant professor of Human Development and Family Studies; and Jessica Marie Johnson, an assistant professor in the Center for Africana Studies and the Department of History at Johns Hopkins.

The event is free, but participants must register here.
