WHERE: Blanton Museum of Art, 200 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Austin, Texas

REGISTRATION: Registration is open online, but seats are limited and likely to fill up. A full schedule is available here. The cost to attend ISOJ is $100 for the public and $40 for students and faculty members.

BACKGROUND: ISOJ offers a unique blend of academic research along with perspectives from online journalism industry leaders.

"ISOJ is celebrating its 15th anniversary with an outstanding program," said Professor Rosental Alves, founder and director of ISOJ. "We are very proud that our conference has become one of the most important digital journalism conferences in the world. This year we will probably break our own record of international attendees. Every year we attract more than 300 people, among them media executives, journalists and scholars from dozens of countries."

The opening keynote speaker will be Jim Bankoff, chairman and chief executive officer at Vox Media, an online publisher focused on sports, personal and gaming categories. Vox’s publications include SBNation, The Verge and Polygon.

Other keynote speakers include Martin Baron, executive editor at The Washington Post; Ying Chan, founding director and professor at The University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre; and Jay Rosen, associate professor at New York University and blogger at PressThink.org.

The symposium has two main components: discussions with journalism industry leaders and research presentations by esteemed journalism and new media academics from around the world. The articles also will be printed in the fourth annual #ISOJ Journal, which will be available online and in print during the conference.

Live video streaming will be available, and Univision will simultaneously translate content into Spanish.

Sponsors include the Knight Foundation, The Dallas Morning News, Omidyar Network, Univision Noticias and the Moody College of Communication.
