Medical nominations for the Medical Council

Medical Council of New Zealand

Every three years the Medical Council of New Zealand holds an election in which the profession votes to choose four doctors (medical practitioners) as nominees to the Medical Council – that time has now come.

Current elected Council members

The current elected members are:

  • Dr Jonathan Fox
  • Dr Pamela Hale
  • Dr Martin Searle
  • Dr Curtis Walker

Their term will come to an end in June 2018.

Key dates

Nominations for the election of the four medical practitioners opened on Monday, 20 November 2017 and close on Friday, 19 January 2018.

Voting will open on Tuesday, 20 February 2018 and close on Friday, 23 March 2018.

The Minister will be advised of the top four polling candidates on Tuesday, 27 March for consideration of appointment as members of the Council for a 3-year term from July 2018.
