BROOKINGS, S.D. – Feb. 20, 2013 – Daktronics (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., has designed, manufactured and installed a new integrated centerhung video display system for Mercer University inside the Bears newly-named home basketball facility, Hawkins Arena. The centerhung display system consists of four video displays and a lower ring display.

“Daktronics was a pleasure to work with in our effort to improve the fan experience with the video display system,” Mercer Director of Athletics Jim Cole said. “Their staff, from the sales team to the installation crew, was top-notch. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to any school or university.”

The four main video displays feature 10 millimeter line spacing and measure more than 7 feet high by 13.5 feet wide. The tighter line spacing of this technology offers crystal-clear, detailed imagery with smooth motion reproduction while also offering wider viewing angles. These displays are capable of highlighting one large image for live video and instant replays, and it can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.

The lower ring display features 15 millimeter line spacing and measures 2 feet tall by nearly 44 feet in circumference. This display will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

In addition to the centerhung structure, Daktronics is also providing the university with custom animated content for all displays, two scoreboards with team name message centers, three LED shot clocks, three backboard light strips and seven wall mounted locker room clocks.

“We’re proud to supply Mercer with the best technology available on any level,” said Glen Marts, Daktronics Sales Representative. “The new display system makes Hawkins Arena one of the finest collegiate basketball facilities in the U.S.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
