Metallurgist Joins the Metallography Department at Laboratory Testing Inc.
Alan Fabiszewski has joined the Metallography Department at Laboratory Testing Inc. as a Metallurgist. He will perform various metallurgical testing and analysis methods to reveal material characteristics, to identify flaws and defects, and to carry out failure analysis and weld qualification.
Fabiszewski is a Drexel University graduate with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and has completed courses through ASM International and NACE International. He brings over 20 years of experience in metallurgy, materials engineering, corrosion engineering and failure analysis to his new position at Laboratory Testing Inc.
The Metallography Department at Laboratory Testing Inc. has the capabilities to detect internal and surface defects on test samples, reveal the microstructure or macrostructure of samples, and determine conformance to required industry specifications. LTI’s metallurgical analysis services, when employed during a failure analysis, can also provide insight into the cause of material failures or insufficient performance. A wide-range of metallurgical testing is provided to reveal the character of metal samples including grain size determination, plating evaluation, case depth, alpha case, surface contamination, grain flow, intergranular corrosion, Knoop and Vickers testing and many other metallography methods.
The laboratory can also prepare all test samples and provide photomicrographic examination and digital imaging with optical magnification from 7X to 1000X to document test results. The SEM/EDS at LTI has magnification capabilities to 300,000X for microanalysis and analyzing small areas of interest on samples. Metallurgical testing and analysis services performed at LTI are Nadcap accredited.
