Michigan eCommerce Startup eBrands Bucking Regional Trends

Troy, Mich. - While many shy away from new business endeavors during an economic recession, Hyaat Chaudhary of Royal Oak, Mich. sees opportunity. The 29-year-old founder and CEO of eBrands, Inc. left his comfortable position in private equity working for Roger Penske to start his new company. eBrands, located in Troy, acquires profitable, but
mismanaged online retailers around the country, relocates them to Michigan, and enhances them with resources, expertise and infrastructure.

eBrands' first acquisition consisted of nine online stores, each specializing in different consumer products, including game tables, vending equipment, pet products and more. “Each of the Web sites we acquired have sound search engine rankings, high traffic volumes and tremendous profit potential if they are managed properly,” said Chaudhary.
“It's amazing how many absentee owners, moonlighters and 'mom and pops' own top-ranked niche Web sites that they either don't know what to do with, or simply don't have time, capital or expertise to combat a difficult economy.”

For each acquired online retailer, eBrands implements a new Web site design aimed at increasing visitor-to-buyer conversions. The holding company also adds new products, executes proprietary search engine optimization strategies, offers live online help and customer support, initiates e-mail marketing campaigns, and creates other centralized infrastructure such as automated order management systems.

This week, eBrands unveiled the first enhanced online store, http://www.pool-tables-fast.com. “Within the first day, we saw a substantial increase in sales,” Chaudhary said.

Working directly with local suppliers, eBrands features many products made in Michigan, including vending machines and game tables. The company also has created jobs in the areas of customer service and management. “When you contact us for assistance in selecting a product or ordering, you speak with a trained customer service representative here in Michigan, not a recording or someone in another country,” Chaudhary said.

eBrands plans to acquire more than 200 online stores over the next five years and achieve annual revenue exceeding $100 million. Follow @ebrandsinc on twitter.com for news on each new eBrands acquisition and Web site transformation.
