Milwaukee Airport Parking Extension Plans Dropped

General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee has recently seen an increase in passengers and now deals with an estimated 9.7 million passengers a year. This growth in passenger numbers and subsequent demand for services meant that discussions were underway about the possibility of extending the MKE airport parking facilities.

Milwaukee, WI, August 25, 2011 (PressReleasePoint) -- Currently, the airport has got 11,244 parking spaces spread out over the lots and garage at MKE. The proposed parking expansion would have added an extra 580 parking spaces in one of the remote lots. The request for this expansion was made to Milwaukee County and it would have cost around $1.5 million.

This proposal, however, has now been withdrawn by Mitchell International Airport officials, which could potentially make it harder for increasing numbers of passengers to find suitable on-site parking options at MKE. One alternative for passengers affected by parking congestion caused by the lack of new spaces would be to park in one of the off-site lots serving General Mitchell International Airport. There are currently a few different off-airport lots close to MKE and as well as parking, depending on which lot you choose there are also other services such as car care and car wash available.

Off-site lots offer a free MKE airport shuttle service to take passengers from the lot to the airport terminal. Parking off-site can also save considerable sums when it comes to the cost of Milwaukee Airport parking and so it could turn out to be a convenient parking option for many travelers, both in terms of cost and making sure they get a suitable, secure parking space whenever they need to travel.
