Minister Killeen Congratulates Shannon Development On LAMA Award

County Clare, IRELAND, 21st January 2008 – Minister of State and Clare T.D., Mr. Tony Killeen today congratulated Shannon Development on being named one of the principal winners at the Local Authority Members’ Association (LAMA) Awards in the City West Hotel, Dublin.

The Regional Development Agency received the ‘Best Marina Development’ award at the event, which recognises excellence in the delivery of services at Local Government, City and Council level. Awards were granted in 23 categories covering a wide range of activities.

“I am delighted that Shannon Development has been recognised for its work, to date, on the Kilrush Marina project”, commented Minister Killeen.

He added, “The aim of the LAMA awards is to reward individuals, initiatives and private companies for outstanding contributions and projects of benefit to the community. This is especially applicable to Shannon Development’s ongoing work on the marina at Kilrush, a town that boasts a proud and ancient maritime tradition.”

In early 2007, Shannon Development identified a preferred developer in relation to the future development of the Kilrush Marina and surrounding landbank. The project will involve a total overall investment of €50m to be developed over three phases and will include: doubling the berthage capacity of the marina and upgrading of marina facilities to international standard; development of marina holiday homes and residential accommodation; new hotel with leisure and conference facilities; retail / commercial park and office accommodation.
