Minnesota Sinfonia Announces Winning Composers

MINNEAPOLIS—September 7, 2015—The Minnesota Sinfonia is proud to announce the 2015 Minnesota Sinfonia/McKnight Foundation composition award recipients. The award is given by the Sinfonia to Minnesota-based composers for new chamber orchestra compositions. With financial support from the McKnight Foundation, each composer will receive a cash prize. With the exception of Tony Hauser’s Alegrias, which was premiered this past June, all composers will have his or her composition premiered by the Sinfonia during the current season.

 

The winners, names of compositions, and dates of performances are:

Tony Hauser, Alegrias

Premiered on June 18 at Lake Phalen Amphitheater and June 19 at Lake Harriet Bandstand

Jocelyn Hagen, Adagio

October 9 (7pm) at Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, MN

October 11 (2pm) at the Basilica of Saint Mary, Minneapolis, MN

David Evan Thomas, Suite Populaire

February 5 (7pm) at Johnson High School, St. Paul, MN

February 6 (2pm) at the Basilica of Saint Mary, Minneapolis, MN

Jeremy Cochran, Insouciant

March 4 (7pm) at Johnson High School, St. Paul, MN

March 5 (2pm) at the Basilica of Saint Mary, Minneapolis, MN
