The Textile Association (India), Rajathan Unit has come forward and extended support to the ongoing year long HIV & AIDS Awareness Campaign being run by Denim Club India. As a first step in this joint initiative a one hour session on HIV and AIDS awareness was organised at MLV Textile and Enginneering College, Bhilwara on 1st February, 2010.

The session was held at the College campus, and included the screening of a short film - MIGRATION - by Mira Nair, an interactive session for dispelling Myths surrounding HIV and AIDS.

Dr. D. K. Mathur, Assistant Professor, MLV Textille and Engineering College said “The students of today are the future of our nation and also in high risk group due to change in socio-economic conditions. Increased awareness at this stage will help them in not only protecting themselves from infection, but also in spearheading change in attitudes of their family members and civic society towards People Living with HIV. We will work with Denim Club India and formulate a plan for organising HIV awareness sessions on a regular basis to be able to reach out and sensitise a larger number of students.”

Expressing his thoughts about the association, Mr. R. Dudeja, Founder, Denim Club India said, “MLV Textille and Engineering College, having a large student population, by associating with this campaign have taken a crucial step towards empowering youth and we welcome their initiative. With the support and participation of (MLVTEC), we shall be able to reach out to a large number of youth in Rajasthan, and sensitise them about issues pertaining to HIV and AIDS. ”

The year long HIV and AIDS awareness campaign with the theme "Do Something and Make A Difference" was launched on 1st December 2009 and will continue till 30th November, 2010. During this period, different segments and sections of civil society will be targeted through this campaign.
