Report addresses how to protect Texas taxpayers; help slow government growth

AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation will host a media conference call with Senator Brian Birdwell on Monday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. Central Time, to discuss TPPF’s upcoming report Protecting Texas Taxpayers: Sales Tax Relief (STaR) Fund. This report, authored by Talmadge Heflin, TPPF’s Director of the Center for Fiscal Policy, and Dr. Vance Ginn, Center for Fiscal Policy Economist, outlines how to boost economic prosperity in Texas while helping slow the growth of government spending, through an innovative sales-tax relief fund.

The Honorable Chuck DeVore is the Vice President of Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. He served six years in the California Assembly and is the author of “The Texas Model: Prosperity in the Lone Star State and Lessons for America.”

The Honorable Talmadge Heflin is Director of the Center for Fiscal Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Heflin served 11 terms in the Texas House of Representatives and chaired the House Appropriations Committee in 2003, leading the Texas Legislature’s successful efforts to close a $10 billion budget deficit without a tax increase. 

Vance Ginn, Ph.D., is an Economist with the Center for Fiscal Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a non-profit, free-market research institute based in Austin.
