Public Event will Showcase Paseo/MRIGlobal’s Ninth Robotics Season.

(Kansas City, MO) February 14, 2014MRIGlobal will host an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014, for the FIRST robotics team from Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. The event will take place in the MRIGlobal Mag Auditorium, 4920 Cherry St.

The annual event is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the auditorium, which is on the grounds of the MRIGlobal headquarters.

“We heartily support FIRST robotics and are proud to celebrate our ninth robotics season with Paseo,” said Thomas M. Sack, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of MRIGlobal. “We are very proud of what the Paseo students have achieved and appreciate the hard work of our staff who coach and mentor them. We look forward to seeing what their robot can do both at the open house and in the competition.”

Paseo’s robot will compete in the FIRST Regional Robotics Competition March 13-15 at Metropolitan Community College Business and Technology Center, 1775 Universal Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.

FIRST Robotics was launched by inventor and founder, Dean Kamen.

The 2014 FIRST Robotics game, AERIAL ASSISTSM, is played by two competing alliances of three robots each on a flat 25’ x 54’ field. Alliances compete by trying to score as many balls in goals as possible during a two-minute and 30-second match. Robots earn additional points by working together to score goals, move the ball down the field, and by throwing and catching balls over a truss.
