- (PressReleasePoint) - Bangkok - Thursday, 18 February 2016 - Lt Col Ruj Sangudom, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Privileges, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Mr. Romain Marselli, Business Development Director, and Ms. Sabrina Hoang, project manager of Minh Vi Advertising and Exhibition Service Co., Ltd., held a joint press conference announcing the first MYANMAR SPORTS & LEISURE EXPO 2016 event with over 40 leading operators from Thailand.

The government of Myanmar aims to push the economy to grow three-fold within three years, paving a road for privatization to support businesses and industries, especially the sports and health industry which is growing significantly but still not enough to meet current needs. The Ministry of industry, the Ministry of Sports, and the Olympic Committee of Myanmar, therefore, cooperate with Minh Vi Advertising and Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. to hold the first MYANMAR SPORTS & LEISURE EXPO 2016, the trade show and exhibition in sports and recreation, between 20-22 May 2016 at the Rose Garden Hotel Yangon to promote and support the sports industry to grow with quality and become internationally recognized.

Lt Col Ruj Sangudom, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Privileges, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) said that “Currently, Myanmar has changed and grown in many aspects of the economy and social quality. 90 percent of the total population of over 63 million are literate, and many young people who have a chance to study abroad now return to their homeland at the same time as when many foreign companies start to conduct business in the country. This wave of change alters the lifestyle of Myanmar people as they absorb cultures of the West, including the development of healthcare, the arrival of international schools, the growth of golf, and other sports centers and leisure services. Coupled with the economic development policy, the country is estimated to grow rapidly at least three times within three years. Also, with the preparation for privatization, Myanmar is very attractive for a group of businessmen from abroad and in ASEAN.”

The sports and leisure industry of Myanmar is now in its first stage, and the competition is still low due to the great demand of the domestic market and few service providers, but the ability to respond to the needs is still limited. By welcoming entrepreneurs from around the world to operate in the domestic market, Myanmar will see a more intense competition, and improvement in quality, innovation and technology will increase contributing to the development of Myanmar as the center of innovation and technology in sports and leisure of ASEAN in the future.

“The promotion and support that the business sector and the sports and leisure industry are receiving from the government of Myanmar is a good opportunity for the business and industry of Thailand to share our knowledge, experience, technique, innovation and technology in sports in order to create a trade relationship. At the same time, as a member of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, I have the opportunity to meet and talk with the Olympic Committee of Myanmar about the development of sports, the exchange of knowledge, and a new push that will enhance the sport skill of Myanmar people to the next level of excellence. “ Lt Col Ruj Sangudom added.

Mr. Romain Marselli, Business Development Director Minh Vi Advertising and Exhibition Service Co., Ltd., on behalf of The Ministry of industry, the Ministry of Sports, and the Olympic Committee of Myanmar, added that “The MYANMAR SPORTS & LEISURE EXPO 2016 will show case a large collection of products and services for both land and water sports, fitness equipment, bikes, outdoor sports facilities, health services, spa and food supplements from prominent entrepreneurs around the world. This is the forum for trade negotiation on sports and leisure among business operators in ASEAN.

This event has received such positive responses from operators around the world that is now almost fully booked by more than 50 leading global organizations and enterprises. It is estimated that there will be more than 2,000 visitors from 10 countries, including Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, USA, UK and more.
