Naperville Illinois Business Owner Follows Dream to Pursue Fitness Training

Fitness Together expands presence in Chicago with franchise event July 22.

Working by day as an auto insurance sales agent and by night as a personal trainer at a local gym would be enough to keep most people busy. But for Betty Scarimbolo, of Melrose, Illinois, something was missing.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – (July 19, 2010) – Working by day as an auto insurance sales agent and by night as a personal trainer at a local gym would be enough to keep most people busy. But for Betty Scarimbolo, of Melrose, Illinois, something was missing.

A graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in business management, Betty was determined to find a new career. Growing up a competitive swimmer, she was always the most enthusiastic about her life when fitness was front and center.

"I've been passionate about athletics my entire life, and have competed in and judged fitness and bodybuilding contests,” said Scarimbolo. "So when I decided to look into a new career, owning a fitness studio seemed like a natural step.”

What wasn't so natural was finding the right fitness franchisor. After an exhaustive search into several fitness concepts, Betty fell in love with the personal, one-on-one training offered through Fitness Together, a national personal training studio.

"I immediately liked the way the studio was set up, and the support offered through the corporate office. But what really got me was the one-on-one training approach,” said Scarimbolo. "When I was a personal trainer, that's how I liked to work, one-on-one with my clients, it really helps keep them accountable.”

In November of 2005 Scarimbolo opened her Fitness Together studio at 1001 E. Ogden Avenue in Naperville, Illinois, and in 2009 the National Fitness Hall of Fame and Museum named her the 2009 Rising Star Award recipient.

Now, based on the success of her studio, and the 13 Fitness Together studios in Illinois, the company believes the area is ready for more. Fitness Together will host a "Making Your Future Fit” franchise event for a select audience in Chicago. Scarimbolo and other franchisees will be on hand to share their experiences and recommendations for the potential franchisees.
