The newly released Atago PEN-Urine S.G. digital urine specific gravity refractometer, supplied by National Microscope Exchange, was developed to meet the needs for hydration testing by hospitals, clinics, athletic associations, probation offices and drug testing facilities.
Carnation, WA, October 16, 2009 – The newly released ATAGO PEN-Urine S.G. digital urine specific gravity refractometer supplied by National Microscope Exchange will help its users to monitor the hydration levels of their clients.   Based on the success of other ATAGO instruments designed to monitor hydration in high school wrestlers, ATAGO developed an instrument that can be used by facilities in the medical field.  Produced to meet the need for checking hydration, the ATAGO PEN-Urine S.G. urine specific gravity refractometer will allow users to easily determine if their clients are in compliance with recommended hydration levels.  It reads urine specific gravity immediately on a hand held instrument according to National Microscope Exchange President Rowland Brasch.
“The PEN-Urine S.G. digital urine specific gravity refractometer is very easy to use,” said Brasch.  “Unlike other refractometers where you have to transfer the sample to the instrument using a dropper, the PEN-Urine S. G. urine specific gravity refractometer can be dipped into or touched to the sample.  Not only does the digital display take the guesswork out of reading the results, but it also keeps the sample away from your face as you read the scale.  Its ease of use and affordability make it a perfect instrument for use in wrestling programs.”
National Microscope was noted as the vendor of choice for purchasing the other Atago hydration testing refractometers by the CIF Southern Section in their Wrestling Weight Management Equipment recommendations.
“The PEN-Urine S.G. digital urine specific gravity refractometer can be used in all areas of the medical field including hospitals, clinics, athletic associations, probation offices and drug testing facilities, and is anticipated to quickly become the standard for clinical assessment of Urine Specific Gravity.  The reputation of Atago for making world-class refractometers is well known, “said Brasch.
