National Pubwatch has teamed up with the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) to develop a new online toolkit which will provide Pubwatch members with readily accessible good practice advice and guidance on a range of issues which affect the pub trade.
The initiative, which is called the Good Practice Pub, is being launched today and can be accessed through the picture of a pub on the NPW Home Page www.nationalpubwatch.org.uk. It will feature a gallery of different scenarios, such as Point of Sale, Door Supervision, Duty of Care and Drugs, alongside information and guidance produced by the BII.
Steve Baker, Chairman of NPW, said: “This is a really exciting development for NPW. We are aware that there is an appetite for this type of thing because we regularly get people contacting us for basic licensing and problem solving advice for things that are relatively speaking not Pubwatch issues – but they are things that impact on the good running of licensed premises. We always try and give impartial advice but this initiative will make it so much easier to signpost people to quality information. We are really grateful for the fantastic support given to us by BII who have made this possible.”
NPW would like to emphasise that the toolkit is not a substitute for Investing time and money into training as obtaining skills and knowledge for yourself and your employees can greatly benefit your business through:
· Motivating staff and increased job satisfaction
· Raising morale and increasing staff retention
· Increased levels of customer service
Details of relevant BII qualifications can also be accessed through the NPW site.
Tim Hulme, Chief Executive of the BII, said: “Our mission at the BII is to provide people working on the industry’s frontline with all the information, guidance and skills they need to do their job professionally and we are delighted to have been able to join up with NPW on this initiative to help support Pubwatch members in this way. Sharing best practice is essential to the success of this sector and the BII has a bank of information and knowledge covering all areas of licensed business operations that can be invaluable in helping answer any questions Pubwatch members might have.”
NPW would also like to thank long time supporters JD Wetherspoon for the use of their White Hart premises in Aylesbury where the photographs for the scenarios were taken.
