PressReleasePoint Bangalore, 22 November 2011: NationWide Primary Healthcare Services Pvt. Ltd (NationWide), a pioneering chain of general practitioner (GP) and paediatric clinics, launched its 3rd primary care centre in Bangalore today. The new centre was inaugurated by Dr Garth Manning, Medical Director, International Development Program at the Royal College of Physicians (UK) & Dr N Karthik Nagesh, renowned paediatric super specialist from Bangalore.
The 1500 sq. ft. clinic has 5 consultation suites and offers General Practitioner consultation services. Additionally, paediatric and diabetologist consultations are provided as part of their family health-focused services. Patients can also avail discounted lab and pharmacy benefits under the same roof.
Addressing the gathering Dr Santanu Chattopadhyay, Founder & CEO, NationWide said “NationWide is already providing family physician services to many families in Koramangala from our other clinics. They have been asking for us to open one in Koramangala and we are glad to be here. Koramangala is our first clinic with a full range of services such as GP, Paediatrics, Diabetology, Lab, Pharmacy and vaccination”
According to Dr Garth Manning, Medical Director, International Development Program, RCGP (UK) “Family medicine aims to offer high quality care to patients at community level, with the doctor acting in the very best interests of the patient and coordinating their care more effectively. The properly trained family doctor is there not just for acute and immediate problems but can also offer preventative services and care of chronic disease, and is the best placed to manage referral to hospital for those who most require it. The care is on-going over time, which makes it a very personal and lasting relationship between doctor and patient, built up over time. ”
Dr Karthik Nagesh, a renowned Neonatologist from Bangalore, further added “Most of the times, specialists (particularly in metros) deal with patients with common medical problems that can be easily addressed by a General Practitioner. Since there are no recognized General Practitioner services available currently, patients are oblivious about whom to contact for their basic ailments
resulting in he/she visiting a specialist doctor. This move of reviving the concept of family medicine is definitely a boon to both the medical fraternity and the common man, as we shall see more trained GPs dealing with general medical issues. This will for sure channelize the healthcare services facilitating high quality treatment at all levels.”
The primary care chain with clinics in Indiranagar, Whitefield and now in Koramangala, was recently declared the “MOST INNOVATIVE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN BANGALORE” by Big Brands Research Group at the Brands Academy Karnataka Service Excellence 2011 Awards.
With their third round of funding around the corner, the organization intends to raise up to $ 5 - 10 million from VC’s for further expansion. The organization’s growth strategy over the next 18 months is to open 15 more centres in Bangalore and simultaneously launch services in Gurgaon and Kolkata with 2 - 3 clinics in these cities.
